“But I don’t think I was ever meant to be anything but a Waterman.” David Miller of Tilghman Island, Maryland shares his legacy and passion about the pure joy of doing what you love.
I don't know if I've jumped quicker than when they got off the trot line a day started crabbing sideways in the workboat. Whoa! Not only is it a puzzle, but you get parts up to your elbows. At least the tuxes were rented?! Admittedly I buy the one pound tubs...
Thanks very much for reading the archives! A high compliment indeed. David Miller is truly one of the best people I have ever known anywhere. J
I was up in Annapolis last August for a wedding. The caterer went down to Cambridge to get 5 bushels of crabs. Half the guests were from Wisconsin (the grooms side) and it was almost comical to see them try to figure out how to get into a blue crab. They don't learn that experience in Wisconsin!
Larry he is honestly one of the most extraordinary human beings I have known. His father passed and mom is stricken with Alzheimers, David and his wife are the primary care givers, as mentioned. To this day, at 3pm when his dad should be home, the mom goes looking for him. So unimaginably hard. To keep explaining such a loss. SO lucky he came into our lives. Thank you so much for chiming in. Makes a huge difference in what I do.
Hello Brian! I was thrilled to see your comment. Wow, humanity does still have things in common even with the divisiveness on the planet. My neighbors are definitely to be admired. Take a look at the other ones, too.
I visited your homeland in 2016 and didn't have enough time. Amazing place.
Thank you for finding me on Substack! I'm truly honored.
One of my favorite characters in your series. I have known, respected and loved this guy for most of my years. God knew what He was doing 40+ years ago. Jen is the best sister a brother could ever want.
Hello Jon! The pleasure is absolutely mine. Johnny impacted my life from day one...an encyclopedia of knowledge and experience and humanity. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

We learn so much from people like this. You are so lucky to have him in your life!
Truer words were never said! Thanks Larry.
