I get exhausted reading about the hard work you have to do every day in the cold. Come south for a breather anytime you can. You know you always have a place!
You're a wonderful soul! Quick escape this week and who knows when our paths may cross. Hope your recovery is continuing...you have your own work ahead of you, I imagine. Here's to warmer times!
Monetizing a waste product - LOL! Out of context, we could sure take that idea in a few directions.
Is there any warmth to be had from the steaming process? Would they notice if you propped your feet above the steamer every half hour or so?
I do feel for you trying to carry on in this work through the winter, and what a winter it's been. Between the low temperatures and the wind, you've really had a lot to contend with. At least it's looking like this new round of snow will fall farther south. Fingers crossed!
I have tried desperately not to complain but it's been BRUTAL cold and the nnw wind blows right on the bow/starboard side, full on! I appreciate your empathy and know that this too shall pass. We decided a quick thawout in the Bahamas was in order. 🇧🇸 whoop whoop.
Can you imagine if you had sold all of your chicken waste products over the years? And it's coveted now, bird and bat waste....well, you know. Just loved your story today! J
I love things made of wood. Boats. Airplanes. Harpsichords. All beautiful things that allow our best dreams come alive. And I love the craft that we use to create those beautiful things.
The sawdust burlap bags would indeed sell lol. It reminds me of a time when your Dad would save the shavings from his chain saw, he made candles out of it and it was the best product to date to get a roaring fire going. L
Stay warm Janice! As an aside, in Mexico, when new love is 'heating up' it's called "amor calido" (romance of the steam). Even love songs mention the pleasant commodity of warmth. (We've got our love to keep us warm. . . ) Just riffing here on a Sunday morning. Onward w/ the project! And I hear you on losing people more regularly of late. It's a harsh reality indeed. Saludos, amiga.
The weather sure hasn't been cooperating for you this season. Warmer weather, as they say, "soon come." 🌴☀️ I'm really enjoying reading about the restoration... it's bringing back fun memories of hanging out at the boatyard when I was young.
Hi Tania! This is so nice to hear as when I began my Substack journey, I envisioned it all about stopping at every island, meeting characters and learning as we went along, so it's nice to hear that I'm keeping it entertaining, at least for those with a love of boats!
Now I'm trying to visualize those works of wood art Bruce! Sounds amazing ....we use cedar every chance we get. My mom's Hope Chest, now 80, still has the aroma.

Oooh....smart thinking! Hopefully, that'll top off your tank long enough for the cold to give way to spring.
